605 km of power transmission lines in Texas - USA | America

Description

In USA, Isolux Corsán has been awarded seven of the new high-voltage power lines to transmit the clean energy produced by the windfarms in north-eastern Texas to the south-east of the state, where most of the industry and population are concentrated.

The project has a capex of €500m and entails the construction and operation of 605 kilometers of 345-kV. And its operation is indefinite.

Isolux Corsán is the first non-American company to be awarded a concession, for 605 km of high-voltage power lines in Texas (USA).

The contract was awarded in 2009, by Isolux Corsán's consortium with the Canadian investment fund, Brookfield Asset Management. It turned Isolux Corsán into the first Spanish company to win a power transmission concession in the USA.

Isolux Corsán has its own offices in Austin, where its work team is putting the finishing touches to the engineering plans for the line construction. To facilitate the management and construction, the project has been divided into three sub-projects which will come on line between 2012 and 2013.

The consortium operates through Wind Energy Transmission Texas, which has already obtained its regulatory permits to go ahead with all three sub-projects.
