Prolongation of the Barcelona Metro L-5 - Spain | Europe

Isolux Corsán has executed the project for extending the line 5 of the Barcelona Metropolitan Railway. This has entailed the construction of three new stations (Carmel, El Coll-La Teixonera and Vall d´Hebron), the Sant Genis train depot and the switch siding at Vall d´Hebron.

The project also includes the electrical feed substation, located at the Sain Genis train depot. With a total investment of €73.4m, this project's main challenge comes from the depth at which the stations are built, the distance between the platform and tracks and the access points on the surface.

Carmel Station is an example of this. Its platforms are at approximately 30 and 53 meters below ground. The Teixonera Station comprises two concourses at 74 and 39 meters below ground.
